Do you know how to search and find what you want

: Recently after designing a website for my family and showing them what terms our website comes under in the search engines, I noticed they don't really know how to search to find what they want. These are people I thought were pretty computer literate, as they have had a computer as long as I can remember. If my family doesn't know how to search I am sure there are many other people out there too, who don't know how to search. Even if you are computer literate, this article will still be beneficial to you as you need to know how to find what you want on the Internet. As you know some of the results are not always what you are looking for. I recently read a newsletter I had received which had some interesting statistics. Did you know that when a searcher does not find the information they are looking for they believe their keywords are wrong? After you read this article you will be able to find what you want unless it doesn't exist and chances of that are rare. How to search within a website For the remainder of this article we are going to be using Google as an example. Let's say we are looking at the site imaginarysite and we want to find what pages have the word "financial" on it. You would type in Google: financial site: imaginarysite and it would return all the results within imaginarysite . This would be useful if the website you were looking at did not have a search option. Finding sites that link to yours or another website Finding sites that link to your website or a competitors website is an interesting tool. Sometimes the websites linking to your competitors will link to your website also. To search for links you must type link: imaginarysite. This will give you the results of all websites with links to your website that have been indexed by Google. If they have not been indexed those websites will not be listed. Finding definitions This is an interesting type of search. For example you may be reading a website on marketing and keep seeing the term blog. You have absolutely no idea what a blog is. To find out in Google you would then type define: blog. The best use for this search is with technical terms that you might not know. Finding exact words To find exact words that are in that order or grouped together, use quotation marks, for example "website design" or "purple monkey habits". Personally I find this search the best tools of all. A good use is when searching for articles and I am searching to see how many websites have my article. I would search "search engine basics" (which is the title of the article) and because there are a ton of websites with those three words together, I would add Alicia at the end without the quotation marks. Try it and see what shows up. This is especially useful to find more specific results. Finding sites with a keyword in the address To find keywords that are in the url (website address), for example type allinurl:webdesign ; another example would be allinurl:web design. Each example would give you different results. The first example would yield results with webdesign (as one word) in the website address. The second will give you results with web design (with a space between the two words). This search would be especially useful if you were looking for the salon named Pink Lime but, you can only remember that it has pink in the name and that it is a salon. You would enter allinurl:pink, salon, which would return all results with pink in the url and also with the word salon. Finding your keyword and corresponding synonyms Use the "~" sign which can be found on your keyboard, you just have to look for it. It can usually be found on the left of the 1 key on your keyboard. It is called the tilde sign. An example would be if you typed ~holistic coach. The results would include holistic coach, natural coach, massage coach and some others. Searching the web and finding the results you are looking for is sometimes a difficult task. A lot of people search using just two or three keywords, which sometimes does not yield the results you are looking for. The best practice is to search using a couple of keywords and if that does not give you the results you are looking for, try adding another keyword after that until you really get the results you are looking for without having to search through pages of search results.

Uk school uniform size matters what constitutes an average childs size

School uniform manufacturers have until recently only supplied a range of averaged school uniform for nursery, primary and secondary schools. What size is an average child? How many times have you been into a high street store looking for boys and/or girls school uniform and the sizing is not equivalent to the age. In my experience this can vary dramatically. An average 5 year old could fit into anything from a 3 year old to an 8 year old depending on where you shop. The majority of high street outlets cover themselves by adopting dual age ticketing – 2/3, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13 and then adult sizes ranging from XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL. As a leading school uniform supplier we use a traditional approach by using tailored sizes. For example for sweatshirts, sweatshirt cardigans, knitted jumpers and cardigans, polo shirts and fleeces we primarily use chest measurements in inches and then we use the age guide 1. The same applies to boys and girls blazers – as the fitting is more critical the school blazers are sizes in 1” increments – to find the equivalent age all you have to do is subtract 22 – for example a 33” blazer in age is approximately a 11 year old 2. Trousers for boys and girls have waist measurements and overall inside/outside leg measurements. This is particularly useful for short / long leg length 3. Shirts and Blouses are measured either by collar size for boys or chest size for girls. Boys school shirts are in half inch increments 4 and girls school blouses are in divisions of 2” 5. Boys and Girls school uniform has always been a problem if they are a small size or a large size. You may be able to go up or down a couple of sizes but the garment never seems to hang right and it needs to be hacked and altered extensively. Thankfully traditional school uniform supplier such as localschooluniform. co. uk still use tailored sizing for petite and bigger children. This means that your child will look good without having to alter the uniform. Small waist trousers have less material around the top of the leg so they do not look baggy and are typically half elasticaed so they flex to the waist size without pinching. For older children there is the option of a static waist as well as elasticated. There is a greater choice for boys at the moment as manufacturers cater for slim fit, fully elasticated, half elasticated, shorter leg, longer leg, sturdy fit / comfort fit. The good news is that manufacturers now also realise that girls need the same fittings – these will become more available as consumers demand customised fitting for their children. Sizing can be a bug-bear for parents and children when ages are used. A small 10 year old will feel very conscious when they only fit into a 7/8 school uniform – much better to have a tailored approach where he/she fits into 28” sweatshirt, 11” collar, 28” Trouser. The same is true for larger outsize children. It would be great if all manufactures and retailers adopted the above principles. Your words are your own product

If you've never come up with any ebooks or digital products on your own but you've been writing articles and posting in forums, then you're in for a big surprise. You won't believe that you already have your own digital product in hand. You'd probably think that your own product has to be an ebook, a piece of software or some sort. That is normal. Though you can't actually hold a digital product, the image of a book that appears on a website seems appealing and real enough to imagine that it's a tangible, physical product - when an ebook is really a simple PDF or executable file. That's why creating an ebook can sometimes be a logical way to own a digital product. But, you've been missing the point. Like I said in the opening paragraph, if you have been writing articles and posting in forums, you definitely already have your own product in hand. Take writing articles for example. You can write a 500 to 600-word article about a topic and then leave an affiliate link to the website you're promoting in the author byline. Since there's no article can be written exactly the same by two different authors, unless you plagiarize word for word, your article is your own unique product - in this case, a marketing product on its own. What you need to do next is market your article as if you're marketing an ebook or other digital product and make sure that there are as many people as possible read your article. How do you market your own articles? One way to do it is by submitting your articles to hundreds of article directories and thousands of ezine publishers. If you want a quick result, and get your article listed in major search engines in as little as one day, pay for the article submission service or use article submitter software. You'll get a wider distribution in a short period of time this way. What if you don't write an article, but have been actively posting in forums? Well, use bits and pieces of the postings and turn them into articles. For example, post a question like "how do you get top ranking in search engine?" Then, when you get enough responses, compile the answers and write an article based on the information you have. Next, give a catchy headline for the article such as "Top 7 Sure-fire Ways to Achieve Top Search Engine Ranking in Less Than a Week." Include a short promotion about you in the author byline and Presto! You've got an article. You've got your own product. Of course, you don't normally create an image of article cover (like ebook normally has ebook cover), and lose the feeling of a 'real' product, but you can always turn a few of your articles into a short report. And guess what? Lots of people create images for their reports. You can do the same too. Now, can you easily create a 500-word article? How fast can you write a 500-word article? Can you write more than one 500-word article? Think about it. I've just created a product of my own and you're done reading it in less then 3 minutes. Is this article a great product? You’ll be the judge, but what's more important is that I've already successfully marketed "my own product" to you. Haven't I?
